We went to Kerikeri thinking that it was on the sea, turns out it isn’t (there was a stream through the campsite) but the town was quite pretty and we had a decent curry (in Kerikeri if you ask for a medium, you will get an INDIAN medium). The best part of the place was the campsite kitty and the ducks.
The cat decided to follow us around and eventually had a nap in the van while Charlotte fed the ducks. This was a bad idea, as they were still standing around the van the morning after, and one of them even had the cheek to jump up and try and grab the food out of our hands. They were also stupid enough to try and eat the van!

Exploring the van…
And settling on the front seat.
Our personal favourite was Hoppity, the duck with one leg. You couldn’t help laughing at it – even the baby ducks were picking on it. We later found out that there’s quite a few ducks in NZ with only one leg, as when they are babies eels will have a go at them and just get one of their legs.
Charlotte’s new friends
Unfortunately this photo doesn’t do poor Hoppity justice.
Oh yeah, we also went to another waterfall.
